OROQUIETA
CITY: It’s a must to visit since it now features the American Era Architecture Exhibit
found at its ground floor, the PIA reports.
The
exhibit will feature the transformation to its original structure done by the United
Architects of the Philippines (UAP), Liga ng Bayan (LnB) president Gerard M.
Ramiro said.
It
was learned that the attention of the National Commission for Culture and the
Arts (NCCA) was called by concerned local architects for the Capitol’s expansion,
which, if done without help, would lose its original architectural character.
The
design was in the beginning made by Great Juan Arellano, one of the three Filipino
Architects, who, with Tomas Mapua and Antonio Toledo, then were trained abroad
and brought the Beaux Arts to the Philippines.
The
Capitol presently is itself a tourist destination for the new generation to take
a look in its past, Ramiro, who is also the chairperson of the Provincial
Tourism Council, said.
To
run from Nov. 5 to 9, the project is jointly done by NCCA and the Kutawato Arts
Council, which is now on its 5th tour around Mindanao.
