Guingona, Trillanes et al to attend in Misoc’s Liga Congress

OROQUIETA CITY: Senators Teofisto “TG” Guingona III and Antonio Trillanes IV and company are expected to visit the province of Misamis Occidental this weekend.

Guingona will speak at the First Congress of the Liga ng Bayan (LnB) Presidents 2014, on November 7-10 and Trillanes will tackle Internal Peace and Security Plan (IPSP) “Bayanihan.

The First Congress of the Liga ng Bayan (LnB) Presidents 2014 is a major event in the 5th Pasungko Festival in the province celebrating also its 85th foundation anniversary.

With the theme: “Bawat Pilipino sa Mindanao Iisa ang Mithiin, Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran sa Bawat Barangay Palaganapin,” it will be held at the Provincial Farmers’ Cultural and Training Center (PFCTC), at the back of the Provincial Capitol, this city.

Guingona, chairperson of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee on Accountability of Public Officers and Investigations, will talk about SB 2390, a bill dealing with barangay officials’ term extension.

A memorandum of agreement (MOA) of the Ugnayan ng Barangay at Simbahan (UBAS) will also be made during the activity by National LnB President Edmund R. Abesamis and Usec. for Local Government Austere A. Panadero.

This will be followed by the signing of the joint resolution declaring the province as conflict manageable and development-ready province by Defense Sec. Voltaire Gazmin, Usec. Panadero, Gov. Herminia Ramiro, 1st IB BGen. Gerardo Barrientos  Jr., and P/Chief Supt. Isagani Francisco Genabe Jr.

Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) Sec. Teresita Quintos-Deles will likewise give her talk on the peace process in Mindanao.

The “Laag-laag in Misoc” will be held on the last day of the congress, on Nov. 10, Monday.
