OROQUIETA
CITY: The 1st Congress of Mindanao Liga ng mga Barangay (LnB) Presidents 2014
held here recently was generally for the people’s growth, Gerard M. Ramiro, LnB
vice-president for Mindanao, said.
Ramiro,
also the Federated Association of Barangay Captains (FABC-Misoc) President, added
the vision for such growth can only be attained by precise problem-solving,
which was one of the key objectives of the congress.
He
declared that the congress was a venue for all LnB heads from all the regions
in southern Mindanao to work with each other and bond ties of friendships in
order to easily set down practical solutions to the challenges of the day.
Ramiro
said the congress unified the efforts and advanced common accomplishments and
even addressed problems besetting the barangays in their respective areas.
There
is a need to empower barangays in Mindanao so that the economic situation will
be more developed than those in Luzon and Visayas, he added, since they play an
important role in nation-building.
The
recently concluded congress focused on the theme: “Bawat Pilipino sa Mindanao
Iisa ang Mithiin, Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran sa Bawat Barangay Palaganapin.”
