City: Police confirmed a man working as a security guard who was recently arrested
here is an Abu Sayyaf member.

police chief S/Supt. Angelito Casimiro identified
the detained individual as Rael Muharibil Jumadil also known as “Abu Mursan” or
“Jumadil,” a resident of Brgy. Bagkaan, Tongkil, Sulu province.
Jumadil was arrested by policemen at
the local port, Wednesday of Nov. 12, where M/V Stephanie Marie of Aleson
Shipping Lines is docked.
Casimiro said the Aleson-owned ship
ply the Isabela-Zamboanga route and vice versa.
He added that Jumadil is a liaison
or courier between this city and Basilan province.
Recovered from his possession were
a shotgun with defaced serial number, a caliber .38 revolver and several IDs belonging
to different individuals.
The police chief said that the
suspect was known to have participated in a string of kidnapping cases in
Basilan province few years ago and was tagged as one of the suspects in the
2001 Lamitan siege and the kidnapping of 15 workers from Golden Harvest
Plantation in Tairan, Lantawan, Basilan.
Last August, a suspected ASG member
facing at least four cases of kidnapping with serious illegal detention identified
as Edwin Sawaldi was collared by police near this city’s wharf.
April, this year, another ASG
member allegedly known as a follower of sub-leader Nadzmie Sabdulla and who disguised
himself as a fisherman was first reported taken into police custody.
